About Show House 2012
68 Scarborough Street, Hartford, CT
Every three years the Junior League of Hartford, Inc. (JLH) takes over a unique home or estate in the Greater Hartford area, selects regional designers to decorate the interior and grounds, and sells tickets to the public for viewing of the completed house.
Steeped in Connecticut history, this 7,000 square foot estate was built in 1921 and was home to former Connecticut Senator Alfred Francis Wechsler. The home features nearly 25 spaces that were completely transformed when regional interior designers, decorators and landscape architects reimagined the rooms and gardens of the house as design showcases for public tours May 5 through May 27.
The Decorator Show House is the JLH's largest event-based fundraiser. The proceeds from the Show House are used to fund our community projects such as Freshplace, The Backpack Program, Kids in the Kitchen, Souper Sustainers, and the many community projects our Done In A Day committee accomplishes each year. The monies raised also support our mission of "promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers."
