JLH’s First Volunteer-a-Thon
The first ever JLH Volunteerathon was held Friday, May 6, 2016 starting at 4pm and went through Saturday, May 7, 2016 ending at 6:12pm. This exciting event promoted JLH and its mission and helped gain support throughout the community. Our goal was to disperse our volunteers to a variety of nonprofit agencies that could use our “woman power.” We made an impact in the local community for 26.2 hours straight (broken into shifts)!
Much like a typical marathon running race, the general public donated funds to support the JLH Volunteerathon. During the first Volunteerathon, JLH members raised over $16,500.00. The funds went to support various JLH projects and programs, including the current focus on Empowering Women and Girls to Overcome Obstacles. The League’s latest efforts include partnering with Junior Achievement of Southwest New England and running the Career Connections for Young Women program, whose purpose is to provide high school women with a clearer understanding of their potential and to create a powerful vision of what they can become.
2016 Finish Line Party
We ended the Volunteerathon with a Finish Line Party at Real Art Ways in Hartford! Sponsors, supporters, community partners and the general community joined the members of the Junior League of Hartford in celebrating the event’s success with BBQ and live music!
2016 Community Partners
The JLH had so much fun working with the following organizations. We look forward to working with them again in the future!
2016 Mile Marker Sponsor
